Rupp leads USA Chiba Ekiden Team

2012 Olympic 10,000m silver medalist Galen Rupp will lead a strong contingent of athletes to Chiba, Japan to compete in the Chiba Ekiden.

On the men’s side Rupp, the American record holder for 10,000m, will be joined by the 2012 U.S. 25 km champion Joseph Chirlee and Jake Riley, who was a six-time All-American during his time at Stanford. The women’s team will include  eight-time NCAA Division II Champion Neely Spence, the recent USA 10 km champion Chelsea Reilly, and University of Toledo senior Emma Kertesz.

The six person relay team will combine to cover the marathon distance against an international field in Chiba, Japan on November 23. The legs of the relay are:

1st leg: Men 5km
2nd leg: Women 5km
3rd led: Men 10km
4th leg: Women 5km
5th leg: Men 10km
6th leg: Women 7.195km
