Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie Does Not Want to Be Fat

Ethiopian runner Haile Gebrselassie said Monday that he will continue to participate in marathons because he wants to keep his athletic figure and avoid getting fat like famous Brazilian soccer ex-crack Ronaldo Nazario de Lima.

"I saw Ronaldo on TV yesterday and I noticed how fat he has become. I don't want to finish like him, I really do not. So I keep running and competing," Gebrselassie told the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine.

The Ethiopian, 38 years and one of the greatest glories of world athletics, also confirmed his resignation from the marathon in the 2012 Olympics.
