American race walkers qualify for IAAF World Cup
A total of 16 competitors took part in the IAAF World Cup Team Trials Sunday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Spots were on the line for Team USA for the 25th IAAF World Race Walking Cup, scheduled for May 12-13 in Saransk, Russia, in both the 10 km and 20 km events.

On the men’s side, Trevor Barron was the top American finisher in the 20 km event in a time of 1:22:13. He will be joined at the World Cup by Tim Seaman, Patrick Stroupe, Nick Christie and Dan Serianni. At the 10 km distance, Alejandro Chavez lead the Americans Sunday with a time of 46:06.3 and will be joined by Michael Nemeth, Jonathan Hallman and Nathaniel Roberts on Team USA.

In the women’s 20 km, Maria Michta grabbed the win Sunday in a time of 1:35:56. She will be joined on Team USA by Erin Gray, Lauren Forgues, Katie Burnett and Solomiya Login. Also In the women’s 10 km, Maite Moscoso and Abby Dunn each qualified for the World Cup.
