Eugene OR - 8000 participants are expected to compete in next weekend's Eugene Marathon events. The boost in registrations is a 40% increase from this time last year.

"Runners and walkers are ecstatic at the thought of finishing on Hayward Field." says Richard Maher, Event Director, "The marathon gives weekend warriors the chance to race in the Running Capital of the United States."

The fourth annual Eugene Marathon and Expo will take place April 30-May 2. The event has the tagline: "Running in the Footsteps of Legends" after all the running greats who have lived, trained and raced in the city. The Eugene Marathon is truly turning into one of the country's fastest growing destination marathon, with 30% of all registrants from out-of-state.
